However, you choose to spend the weekend, one great way to bone up on the interesting things going on the world is to join me and D.R. McCale on Kicking the Anthill, presented by heard from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, Saturday evenings on AM 930, KLUP, or on the web at http://www.KLUP.com. If you prefer participatory radio, we’d love to hear from you. You can call us at 210-308-8867 (toll free, 866-308-8867) or you can email us at Drexel@KickingTheAnthill.com.

This week DR and I will focus on energy and oil as we discuss policy options, presidential candidates and the state of conservative thinking on the topic.

To help us out, we’ll be joined by Michael Klare, the author of thirteen books, the latest of which is RISING POWERS SHRINKING PLANET. Mr. Klare is the defense analyst for The Nation and the director of the Five College Program in Peace and World Security Studies at Hampshire College in Amherst.

But what would three hours of Kicking the Anthill be without shifting gears slightly. I LOVE the Olympics. Everything about them. Did I mention I love the Olympics. So this week we’ll also talk to a couple members of the Lopez family from Sugarland, TX (that’s near Houston). Two brothers and one sister qualified for the US Olympic Tae Kwon Do team (out of four members) and they’re coached by their other brother. So coach Jean and brother Mark will join me and DR to talk about how the four of them ended up in the same Olympics and their chances in Beijing.
